The USA celebrates Labor Day which is the unofficial declaration of ending the summer and holiday season. In this day, all schools, public enterprises, banks, corporations, and Wall Street Stock Exchange is closed. Beaches and outdoor pools all around the country are closed for this day.
Only meaning for laborer – 1 day holiday
Labor Day has been celebrated since 1882, following the acceptance of labor unions’ request for a one-day holiday. It became an official federal holiday with a law passed in 1894. Unlike the May 1st International Workers’ Day, which has strong political roots, Labor Day has evolved primarily into a cultural holiday today. For most people, it’s a day that extends the weekend to three days. Being the last major holiday of the summer season, it causes significant travel traffic. Beaches, pools, and many summer venues mark Labor Day as the end of the summer season. Many people in the USA often wonder, “When is Labor Day?”, “How many days until Labor Day?”, or “How many days till Labor Day?” because it is such an important day.
At the same time, Labor Day weekend marks the start of the NCAA College Soccer and American Soccer seasons. The first NCAA matches are played during Labor Day weekend. In the NFL (American Football League), the season’s first games take place on the first Thursday after Labor Day. New York’s largest cultural parade, the “West Indian Parade,” also happens on Labor Day. Approximately 4 million people attend this annual event in Brooklyn. The parade takes place on Eastern Parkway and brings together expatriates from Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, Belize, the Bahamas, Guyana, the Virgin Islands, and many other small island communities.
