How Many Weeks Until Ramadan?
What Is Ramadan?
Ramadan is one of the religious holidays of the Muslim community which they do not eat or drink anything for a certain period of time during the day. This mainly depends on the rise and set of the sun however the restriction starts around 4 am and ends around 7 pm. Muslims pray to God before this period starts and eat their last meal around 4 am. Then their next meal will be at around 7 pm. Muslims perform this ritual in order to teach themselves self-denial just like their Prophet Mohammed had to do when he entered a cave in order to hide from his enemies.
Why Is Ramadan Celebrated?
In fact, the Muslim community does
not celebrate this event. It is more like a religious ritual adopted by religious people. It offers a great opportunity to come together with the family and have dinner all together. Most of the restaurants and other relevant food industry stores are closed during the period in which eating and drinking are prohibited. However, most of the government institutions such as local governments organize events after dinner time until the beginning of the next day’s ritual. This ritual lasts for 30 days as well.
What Can You Do on Ramadan?
If you are an outsider, Ramadan will be a great opportunity for you to learn more about the traditions of Muslims. You can attend the events which are organized by the local governments with the traditional activities of Muslims. In addition to this, you can also find many TV shows on television to watch which tell the history and story of Ramadan and Muslims in case you are in a country that adopted Islam.
